Here's how it works.. I will make an announcement asking for participants to contact me to let me know if they are going to join in the exchange. (If you don't let me know or show interest there is a chance you'll be removed.) Then once the deadline for signing up passes, I will match people up. I will send you the address of another particpant and that's where you send your compliation CD. At the same time, someone else will receive your address and they send you their CD.
It's a one-for-one exchange. You will only send one CD and receive one CD from each exchange.
How do I participate? Special requirements? Rules?
*All you need is a CD burner!
*Make sure you email me (no13baby@sbcglobal.net) with the following info: Tribe Name, Real Name, Address, email address, a link to your Tribe profile
*For anyone just joining the tribe, please email me ASAP with your info! (Let me know if you are unable to mail CDs outside the USA)*
*Look for the announcements regarding upcoming trades.
*Email me to let me know whether or not you want to participate in the next trade when one is announced. I will not automatically assume you are particpating. You will only be included if you email me.
*Give me updates if you change tribe name, address, etc.
*Do not sign up if you do not plan on being active in the exchanges...Please! If you sign up and do not stay active in the tribe more than 3 months in a row, you will be removed from the tribe. Sorry--I've had my fill of flakes!
*Send out your CDs within 15 days of receiving the info on where to send your CD. If you fall behind, you'll need to contact that person to let them know.
What do I put on my CD? What if they don't like it?
The point of the exchange is to introduce people to your favorite bands. Include tracks from your fave local bands, favorite obscure bands, b-sides, rare tracks...whatever you want! *****Stay away from popular Top 40 (including anything that was Top 40 in the past if you can help it).***** When making your CD, try to personalize a little by checking their profile to see what they're into first. This prevents you sending them music you know they already have or don't like. It's kinda a let down when you get a CD that is half full of stuff you already own.
If the receipient of your CD doesn't like the CD, that's OK. It's a big experiment. Some you'll like, some you'll hate. The point is more about exposing new things and being open-minded about new music you've never heard.
A lot of people asked me where I got the idea to start this tribe. I just always enjoyed making mixes for people since as far back as I can remember. The entire reason I am into the music I am into is all because of one mixed tape I received in 7th grade.
